Health insurance for Port St. Lucie and the Treasure Coast
Port St. Lucie keeps growing, and a lot of new neighbors arrive without a local health plan. As a licensed health insurance agent, I help families, self-employed people, and small business owners get their coverage sorted out after the move.
Just moved
New to the area? Start with your coverage
Port St. Lucie was the fastest-growing large city in the country from 2024 to 2025. It added about 9,100 residents in a single year, according to Census Bureau estimates. Many newcomers are moving up from Palm Beach, Broward, and Martin counties, and others are relocating from as far away as New York and New Jersey.
If your plan came from a job you left or a state you moved away from, it may not work here. Most individual plans are built around a local network, so a move usually means shopping for a new plan. Moving can also open a 60-day Special Enrollment Period for Marketplace coverage, as long as you had qualifying coverage before you moved. Don't let that window close while you're unpacking.
Hospitals close to home include Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital, which sits in the fast-growing Tradition area, and HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital. Insurance networks differ from plan to plan, so I check your preferred hospitals and doctors on every plan we compare.
Who I help
Who I help on the Treasure Coast
-
Families who just relocated
Your old plan may not work here. I'll compare what's available at your new address before your enrollment window closes.
-
Commuters and remote workers
If your job offers coverage that counts as affordable, you lose the Marketplace tax credit. A private plan doesn't care what your employer offers.
-
Self-employed and 1099 workers
There's no group plan behind you. I line up private and Marketplace options with real numbers.
-
Anyone weighing a COBRA offer
Before you keep a former employer's plan at full price, let's compare what else is out there.
Subsidies
An honest word about subsidies
Incomes vary a lot across the Treasure Coast. In St. Lucie County, the median household income is about $71,000, based on Census Bureau estimates. That means many families here may qualify for a Marketplace tax credit, and if you receive one, a Marketplace plan is usually the better fit. I'll tell you plainly.
Private plans tend to fit best when 2 things are true. Your household earns more than the subsidy limit, which for 2027 coverage is $63,840 for one person or $132,000 for a family of four. And you're in good health. When you call, I'll show you both options with real numbers.

Skip the hold line
Once you're covered, I'm still your contact. When a question comes up, you call me, not the insurance company.
Since private plans ask health questions first, approval can't be promised.
FAQ
Questions from new Treasure Coast residents
-
I moved here from New York. Does my old plan still work?
Probably not for routine care. Most individual plans are tied to the state and area where you bought them. Call your insurance company to confirm, then let's look at what's available at your new address.
-
My job offers health coverage. Can I still get a Marketplace tax credit?
Not if the offer counts as affordable under the law, whether you take the job's plan or not. Lots of people here commute to Palm Beach or work remotely, and this rule catches them off guard. If your work plan is expensive to add your family to, let's compare what else is available.
-
Do you help in Fort Pierce, Stuart, and Jensen Beach?
Yes. I work with people across St. Lucie and Martin counties, including Tradition, St. Lucie West, Fort Pierce, Stuart, Jensen Beach, and Palm City.
-
I run a small business in Port St. Lucie. Can you help my team?
Yes. If your team is around 5 or 6 people, I'll go over practical options with you and keep it in plain English.
