Health insurance help for St. Augustine and St. Johns County
As a licensed health insurance agent, I help families, consultants, and business owners in St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra, and across St. Johns County compare private health plans and see what they'd really pay each month.
Why it matters
A growing county where a lot of people pay full price
St. Johns County has grown by about 25% since 2020, and many of the newcomers are families with strong incomes. About 36% of households here earn $150,000 or more, based on the Census Bureau's 2024 estimates. That's one of the highest shares in Florida.
Here's why that matters for health insurance. Marketplace tax credits stop at 400% of the federal poverty level. For 2027 coverage, that line is $132,000 for a family of four. Earn a dollar more and you pay the full Marketplace price. For healthy families above that line, a private, medically underwritten plan deserves a side-by-side look.
Who I help
Who I help in St. Johns County
-
Families who just moved here
Coming from Jacksonville, another state, or up north? The plan you had may not reach Nocatee or St. Augustine Beach. I'll compare what's available at your new address.
-
Consultants and remote workers
Plenty of people here left a corporate job to work for themselves. When the group plan goes away, I'll lay out your private and Marketplace options together.
-
Small business owners
Whether you run a shop near the old city, a charter on the Intracoastal, or a small team in Ponte Vedra, I can walk you through coverage for a team of about 5 to 6.
-
People with a COBRA letter
Before you sign up to keep your old plan at full price, let's see what else is out there.
Local hospitals
New hospitals mean new network questions
Healthcare here is growing as fast as the county. UF Health opened its Durbin Park hospital in north St. Johns in September 2026. Baptist Health added an emergency department at its SilverLeaf campus, and AdventHealth opened a freestanding ER near State Road 207. UF Health St. Johns in St. Augustine and Ascension St. Vincent's St. Johns County were already here.
More choices are great, but no plan includes every hospital. Before you apply, I check whether the hospitals and doctors you care about are in network on each plan we're comparing. If you drive up to Jacksonville to see a specialist, tell me that too, and I'll check those doctors as well.
How it works
How we'd work together
My office is in Tampa, but you won't need to make the drive. St. Johns County clients meet with me by phone and screen share.
-
Start with a quick estimate
It's 4 questions, and you don't have to give an email or phone number.
-
Pick a time for a 30-minute call
It helps to have your doctors, medications, and current plan in front of you.
-
Walk through it together
I put each plan on screen and explain it in plain language.
-
Make your choice
If a private plan is right, we fill out the application together. If it isn't, I'll say so and suggest a better route.
-
Call me after you enroll
I stay with your policy, so you can call me with questions instead of waiting on hold with the insurance company.
Because private plans review your health before approving you, approval is never a sure thing. The insurance company sets your final price once you apply.
FAQ
Common questions from St. Johns County
-
I just moved to St. Johns County. Can I change my coverage now?
A move can give you a special window to enroll in a Marketplace plan outside open enrollment, usually if you had qualifying coverage before. Private plans have their own application rules. Tell me when you moved, and I'll explain what's open to you.
-
Our income is well above the subsidy limit. Is a private plan always the better deal?
Not always. It depends on your health, your ages, and the plans available. Private plans look at your health history, and that affects both approval and price. I'll show you both numbers so you can compare.
-
Do you only work with people in St. Augustine?
No. I help people across St. Johns County, including Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, St. Augustine Beach, World Golf Village, and Fruit Cove.
